------I just returned from my first ever visit to Memphis in May: May 14, 2005.-----------

a SWOSU class--Dr. Dan Brown's--to Memphis on June 24-26, 2005. I directed the group to the Rendezvous for dinner on the 24th. In addition to our primary mission of visiting the National Civil Rights Museum on the 25th, we visited other historic locations, including Graceland, Sun Records, the Peabody, Beale Street, and the Mississippi River......................................................
I am an afficianado of BBQ (barbecue, barbeque, bar-b-que, bbq), to say the least. I have eaten at over 1/3rd of the top 100 rated bbq places in the USA and a lot of other really good bbq places. I collect bbq sauces and dry rubs along with a few other sauces. Currently, I have over 250 different varieties of sauces from the US and a few other countries. I enjoy smoking pork loin and pork ribs using a dry rub prior to smoking followed by serving the meat with one of my favorite sauces. Occasionally I will smoke chicken, turkey, or beef brisket. I am currently using cherry wood, although I also like to use hickory, oak, or mesquite. In the past I have used apricot as well.
