Revised 8-16-04

1. Class attendance is required. Absences in excess of six will subject the student to being dropped from the class.  (Four absences for Tuesday-Thursday classes.)
2. The number of absences will be taken into account in grading as well as when considering borderline grades at the end of the semester.
3. It is the student’s responsibility to inquire about and make up assignments given during an absence.  All work must be completed.  All notes missed should be obtained from other students.
4. Make-up exams will only be given during the last week of regularly scheduled classes.  These exams always prove more difficult that scheduled ones.
5. You should not be late to class.  It is your responsibility to make certain you have not been counted absent if you are late to arrive.  Consistent tardiness will not be tolerated.
6. Class participation is expected.  Quantity of participation is secondary to quality of participation.
7. In the event of questions about grading or other matters, you are requested to consult the instructor first.
8. Plagiarism (i.e., the failure to give appropriate credit to sources in quotations and paraphrases on written assignments) will result in a grade of “0.”  All work must be your own work.  Cheating will not be tolerated.
9. “Students seeking accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will need to see the Dean of Students and provide appropriate documentation of their disability and the desired accommodation.”
10. Incomplete grades will be given if circumstances provide a justification and if most of the coursework is completed prior to the end of the semester.  Students will have one regular academic semester in which to complete the work.
11. Assignments turned in late will be accepted, with a penalty of 10% of the grade.
12. Graduate credit for the course requires additional work.  See me if you are taking the course for graduate credit.
13. While the policy is not likely to change during the semester, students will be notified if any changes are made as early as possible.
